Uniworld Boutique River Cruises has returned to European river cruising with the debut of the newly renovated S.S. La Venezia that sailed 20JUN from Venice, Italy.
The cruise line is the first North American river cruise line to resume operations in Europe since the beginning of the pandemic. Uniworld’s President and CEO, Ellen Bettridge, joined guests and crew onboard the debut to celebrate.
“We’re overjoyed the day has finally come to set sail again, welcoming back our loyal guests not only for the first sailing of the reimagined S.S. La Venezia, but the first European sailing for any North American river cruise line,” said Bettridge.
Uniworld’s Milan, Venice & the Gems of Northern Italy itinerary set sail on 18JUN 2021 in Milan, where guests explored the region for two days before boarding the S.S. La Venezia.
Uniworld will restart in France shortly after Italy, with its first departure on 27JUN with the S.S. Bon Voyage, then on 04JUL with S.S. Joie de Vivre, and S.S. Catherine on 11JUL.
Bettridge also highlighted some of the line's newest health and safety precautions on social media, including a face scanner to identify guests and take their temperature every time they board the ship; mandatory mask wearing in hallways and public spaces, but not while outside or seated, and more.
“The wellbeing of our guests and our crew is our main priority and we’re honoured they have entrusted us to welcome travel’s return. We’re taking all necessary precautions to ensure they are comfortable and have enhanced our already stringent security and sanitation protocols,” she added.
