MapQuest has surged to the No. 1 free iPhone app in the US after refusing to adopt the Trump administration’s new “Lake America” name for Lake Ontario. The mapping service saw downloads jump more than 6,000%, reaching about 210,000 in a single day, while usage climbed roughly 50-fold in a week. Google Maps, meanwhile, is showing “Lake America” to US users while retaining “Lake Ontario” in Canada, with Apple Maps also beginning to adopt the new name.
