A new program from YVR will allow pax to skip its security checkpoint line with a new app called YVR Express. With the new program, pax can book a time to enter security screening up to three days before their flight.
According to CBC, the system is currently set up for passengers heading to the U.S. between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. (local time) at gates in the "E" section. Once a spot is booked, passengers can walk to their assigned security checkpoint within 15 minutes of their reservation, show staff a QR code and skip the security line.
YVR said in its statement that it worked with the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), the organization employing security screeners at Canadian airports, when it created the program. YVR also says U.S.-bound passengers can use mobile passport control app from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency to fill out their customs declarations and passport info for a shorter wait time upon arrival, and the ArriveCAN app, which serves a similar purpose for those returning to Canada.
