Travel issues continued for U.S. pax as flight delays and cancellations topped 10,000 last weekend (17-20JUN), according to data from FlightAware. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says that 17JUN was the busiest day for air travel so far in 2022, with over 2.4 million people passing through security. 18JUN saw 2.1 million travellers. Data showed that worldwide, an additional 3,500 flights were cancelled and over 23,000 flights were delayed over the weekend. USA Today notes that flight cancellations in the U.S. stemmed from a variety of factors, including severe storms, increased number of travellers over the Father’s Day and Juneteenth long weekend, and staff shortages.
