Trading Islands for Mountains: Margaritaville to Open In Poconos; Could Include Amtrak Station

Margaritaville announced plans for a new resort village in an entirely new type of destination for the island-style resort company. The new Margaritaville Resort Village, to be located in the Ponoco mountains, Pennsylvania, at the site of the historic Pocono Manor, will include a hotel, a luxury camp, tiny homes and attractions, reports the Morning Call. Construction on the property is set to begin in 2023 with a projected opening of mid-2024. “As the ultimate family destination for over eight decades, the natural beauty of the Pocono Mountains has offered a retreat for those in search of fun, relaxation and a backdrop of lakes and mountains. In Margaritaville, we are known for our sense of escapism and look forward to bringing our vacation lifestyle to the area with the first Margaritaville Resort Village,” said Jim Wiseman, president of development. Margaritaville Hotel Pocono Mountains will include wilderness gardens, restaurants, swimming pools, activities and live entertainment, with The LandShark Bar & Grill adjacent to the hotel. Camp Margaritaville will include RV and “super premium” RV sites, cabins, as well as a retail store, a fitness center, Cheeseburger in Paradise Restaurant, Fin City Game Room and a 5 o’Clock Somewhere Swim-Up Bar. In a news release, U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright said the company has also offered to donate land for a proposed Amtrak station that would be part of a proposed expansion of rail service from New York City to Scranton, Pennsylvania.
