St. Thomas’ New Westin Resort To Be Powered by Clean Energy

The Marriott property in the Frenchman’s Reef area of St. Thomas, USVI, which will be both a Westin and an Autograph Collection branded resort, will be powered by a clean, oil-free energy source.

Three microturbines - powered by clean fuels such as natural gas and propane - will provide 100 per cent of the energy for the property, and the expected savings in energy costs are expected to be in the millions while slashing the resort’s carbon emission footprint.

Caribbean Journal reports that the standalone, off-grid powered configuration will allow the resort to remain at peak power performance during seasonal occupancy changes
