No Experience, no Resume? You’re Hired! EU Hotels Struggle for Staff

As hoteliers face a staff shortage, many top European hotel chains are hiring workers without any credentials or qualifications. As reported by Reuters, “thousands” of workers left the hospitality industry during the start of the pandemic, and many chose not to return after finding better paid employment elsewhere.

According to Accor CEO Sebastien Bazin, the company is interviewing people with no resumes or prior job experience and hiring them within 24 hours. The new recruits get six hours of training and learn on the job. Gabriel Escarrer, CEO of Spanish hotelier Melia, says the company is fighting for talent by offering accommodations, higher pay, and other perks.
