Meanwhile, AAA Predicts Record Number of Road Trips in U.S. for 4th JUL Weekend

While Canadians seem to be wary of gas prices, a record number of Americans are predicted to hit the road to celebrate the Fourth of July. According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), 42 million Americans will take a road trip for the holiday weekend despite the average cost of gas in the country reaching USD $4.96 as of 21JUN.

Including air travel, AAA predicts 47.9 million Americans will be travelling this coming long weekend, a 3.7 increase from 2021. 3.55 million are expected to travel by air during the holiday weekend, while 2.42 million are predicted to travel by bus, train or cruise. While air travel numbers are slightly up from 2021, AAA says that travellers are choosing cars over planes due to the recent surge in delays and flight cancellations at U.S. airports.
