July Cruising From U.S. Ports More Unlikely

The big cruise lines are losing the race against time to operate from U.S. ports in JUL as APR ends, given that most of the industry needs around 90 days to fully prepare a modern megaship for operation after a pause period. That appears to push operation timelines to a resumption of sailing no sooner than AUG. Cruise lines are still waiting for clear CDC guidelines that would allow cruising in U.S. waters this summer. Cash-strapped lines can’t risk the investment to prepare a ship prematurely, only to have to send the crew home or be unable to start cruising.
