It’s like there’s no one else in the airport. When Delta passengers in Detroit look at a ‘Parallel Reality’ screen, they see only information about their own flight. As the Washington Post reports, the airline is testing new technology “that enables multiple people to look at the same (massive flight display) board simultaneously and see personalized information without using a tool like a camera or headset” – only an app they’ve opted in to, based on a scan of their boarding pass – or optional facial recognition.
Up to 100 pax at a time can view the same digital screen – but see only their own flight details.
Already, 1500+ people every day are using the new app, and the airline says the feedback has been ‘great,’ signalling that perhaps this highly personalized form of communication that cuts down on the time you spend studying the board for your gate information may be coming to an airport near you soon.
