Italy’s new national airline, ITA, has completed its first long-haul service on 04NOV with a flight from FCO to JFK. The airline will operate the route six times per week, and will increase its service to twice daily during the holiday season. “Today is a very important day for our company – with this flight we are launching intercontinental operations with a key market such as the United States, which has always been a crucial destination for both leisure and business tourism,” ITA’s Chief Commercial Officer Emiliana Lomisani said. Flights from FCO to LAX are scheduled for JUN 2023 and MXP to JFK is expected to begin around the same time. ITA recently launched to replace former national carrier Alitalia, which was closed due to financial difficulties.
