Disney Cruise Line Buys Incomplete Ship Global Dream

Beating out several bidders, Disney Cruise Line has closed a deal to purchase Global Dream, which was sitting unfinished in its shipyard in Germany following the collapse of Genting Hong Kong (which also previously owned Crystal Cruises.)

The ship is one of the largest in the world, with a reported capacity for over 6000 guests and 2300 crew members, and powered by more eco-friendly ‘green methanol’

The vessel will be renamed and redesigned for Disney, said to be intending to use the ship in international - likely the fast-growing Asian - cruise market.
