Delta Stops Blocking Middle Seats, Officially Ending Social Distancing on US Planes

Delta was the last U.S. airline to block middle seats until this past Saturday, marking the end of a pandemic era that began last year after the airline first introduced the practice as COVID-19 cratered the number of air travelers. Delta announced at the end of March that it would make all seats available for flights starting 01MAY. One key factor, chief executive Ed Bastian said, was that the airline believed nearly 65 percent of those who flew with Delta in 2019 expected to have at least one dose of a vaccine by the beginning of MAY 2021.
