Cruise-Dependent U.S. Travel Agents Seek Alternatives After Another CDC Warning

With the CDC issuing a warning for all travellers to avoid cruise ships regardless of vaccination status, travel advisors who are normally dependent on cruise sales are seeking other alternatives on land, not at sea.“We are seeing a boom in demand for land-based travel to the Caribbean and Mexico,” said Sarah Kline, the president of Maryland-based agency Time For Travel. “Basically, (clients) are looking for a cruise-like experience on land,” Kline said. “I think we’ve converted some cruisers to all-inclusive lovers.” The company has made three times as many bookings at this point in 2022 than in 2021 due to a surging popularity of all-inclusive resorts.
