‘Chaos’ at YYZ Could Continue Until End of AUG, Ex-Air Canada Exec Says

Wait times affecting both arriving and departing pax at YYZ are “likely” to continue until Labour Day, says Duncan Dee, former Air Canada COO. While Minister of Transport Omar Alghabra promised 400 new security screening officers starting at the end of JUN, Dee says it’s unlikely to make a difference unless pandemic-era restrictions are changed. Without them, delays will “plague” travellers through the summer. Meanwhile, Toronto business leaders expressed their concern at a news conference in MAY that continued issues at the airport would keep people from returning to Canada and instead consider other destinations.
