Canada’s Airlines Anticipate Big Summer Business - If Airports Can Keep Up

Global News reports that Canada’s airlines are all ramping up for a busy summer.
Air Canada expects to fly 90 per cent of the seat-miles it flew in 2019. Flair is adding 58 per cent more capacity, and WestJet is increasing service in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba.

But airline execs have been warning that successful schedules don’t just depend on airline operations. “We remain dependent on investments to airport infrastructure,” said Air Canada’s chief operations officer. This comes following news that YYZ has capped flight and pax capacity to manage operations this spring and summer high seasons, forcing airlines to adjust their schedules.
