Beijing Shuts Down Tourism Attractions After COVID Cases Spike Again

In response to cases hitting new highs daily in Beijing, parks, malls and museums were shut down on 22NOV, dimming hopes for a quick reopening to foreign tourists, reports Skift.

Shanghai also ordered the closure of cultural and entertainment venues in seven of its 16 districts after reporting 48 new local infections, while the city of Tianjin, near Beijing, became the latest to order city-wide testing.

As the country's zero-COVID policy continues to take its toll, China warned that it was facing its most severe test of the pandemic and tightened rules for entry, requiring even domestic arrivals to undergo three days of testing before being allowed to leave their accommodation.

China remains a global outlier with severe travel restrictions, including borders that remain all-but-shut to foreign visitors.
