BA Suspends Short Haul Flights from LHR; Could Trigger Fare Hikes

British Airways has stopped ticket sales for short-haul flights – to both domestic and EU destinations – from LHR for at least a week, until 08AUG.

This comes after the airport capped pax numbers until 11 SEP as a result of massive operational disruptions at LHR in recent weeks. That has included wide-spread last-minute flight cancellations.

As BA is the largest airline operating out of LHR, its proportionately the most affected by the capping of capacity for the rest of the summer. The limits could result in dramatic price increases for scarcer air tickets for the remainder of the holidays.
