As Europe reopens, airlines are enticing Americans to cross the Atlantic with flights on a discount. Delta Airlines is offering nine times as many flights to Paris this JUL as fully vaccinated travellers can arrive in France without quarantining as long as they provide proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival. On 06JUN, a round trip on a Delta flight from JFK to CDG cost USD $536. Delta, United, and American Airlines are flying to destinations such as Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Iceland and Spain. United CEO Scott Kirby noted that there is a large demand for European flights from America as the Union reopens. American Airlines Chief Revenue Officer Vasu Raja said he hopes to restore international flights, "slowly and cautiously in such a way it can deliver the same kinds of returns that we have been able to bring back in the domestic system." Raja said international travel will always be a part of the airline business model but that after the COVID-19 pandemic it, "is going to be way different than the international that went away in 2019.”
