Airbus A350 To Offer Blackout Dimmable Windows – Controlled Via A Tablet

In JAN 2020, Airbus announced that it would be introducing dimmable windows, and Simple Flying had the chance to test them out first-hand at the Airbus Summit in Toulouse. Airbus has been working to scale up the passenger experience in the future, including greater connectivity for all onboard appliances. This will help crew members anticipate the requirements of passengers, including monitoring catering levels. Screens are also set to be the next major feature for cabin services, where flight attendants can gather data without having to check manually. The new concave A350 windows are designed with a slight inward curve to cut down drag and fuel burn. Airbus also noted that this aircraft’s windows can dim with a “99.9% sunlight-blocking performance,” that can be used remotely via a tablet.
