Air Canada Recalls 2,600 Workers

According to Air Canada spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick, the airline will recall more than 2,600 workers as it prepares for an increase in demand for flights. Employees being recalled will include various roles, including flight attendants, and will be brought back in stages in JUN and JUL. Fitzpatrick cites increased vaccination rates, declining COVID-19 cases, and eased restrictions as part of Air Canada’s efforts to rebuild the airline’s network and meet the expected demand for travel. Air Canada laid off tens of thousands of workers amid the pandemic, including 16,500 in MAR 2020.
