Air Canada Orders Staff Back to the Office, Fully Vaccinated

As the government of Canada’s vaccine mandate for all travellers and workers in federally-regulated transportation sectors came into effect 30OCT - Air Canada announced that employees working remotely must start to return to the office beginning 15NOV 2021. The airline described its plan as “a balanced approach” that allows employees to keep working some “set days” remotely. In a statement, Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau cited Canada’s and the company’s high vaccination rate as part of the company’s rationale for bringing workers back. According to the airline, all employees and visitors need to be fully vaccinated to enter company buildings, and staff will be “strongly encouraged” to wear a face mark when outside of personal workspace.
