UK Electronic Travel Authorization to Include Canada, US by 2025

The UK plans to extend its Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)  program to incoming travellers from Canada, the U.S. and Europe by 2025.

The British government confirmed last week that non-Europeans will need an ETA for UK travel beginning 08JAN 2025, while Europeans will need one starting 02APR.

The plan requires tourists to gain permission to enter the country as part of plans to fully digitize UK borders by 2025, Euro News reports.

Non-Europeans can initiate the application process on 27NOV, while Europeans can do so starting from 05MAR.

Travellers have to apply for an ETA before their trip at a cost of 10 British pounds (roughly CAD$18).

The ETA allows multiple trips to the U.K. for stays of up to six months at a time over two years, or until the holder's passport expires.
