Tourism New Zealand has launched a new campaign to mark the one-month countdown to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023
Called "The Beautiful Game," the campaign highlights New Zealand's landscapes, with a friendly match between two local girls' teams held on a specially constructed football pitch in Akoraki Mount Cook. Tourism New Zealand worked with the local Māori community and the Department of Conservation to construct the pitch by hand, ensuring the land could be returned to its natural state with no lasting impact once filming was complete.
The campaign aims to highlight New Zealand's values of respect and care for others, known as manaakitanga.
The FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 will take place from 20JUL to 20AUG in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, and Dunedin, as well as five Australian cities.
More information can be found on FIFA's website.
Tourism New Zealand has also provided additional resources, including a 24-hours itinerary of what to do in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, day trips from the major city, and five Auckland events to add to any FIFA WWC 2023 itinerary. Advisors can access that information here.
