TICO Convicts Michael Shane Adams for Operating Without a License

Gavel.Michael Shane Adams on 26MAR was found guilty of contravening section 4(1) of the Travel Industry Act, 2002, and was fined $3,000 plus Victim Fine Surcharge.

Adams pleaded guilty to operating a travel agency and offering short-term rentals without TICO registration, in contravention of the Travel Industry Act, 2002. He also pleaded guilty to operating a website offering for sale the arrangement of short-term rentals of various properties.

According to TICO, Adams had indicated he would submit an application to register with TICO, but did not follow through with completing the application process and has never been registered with TICO as a Travel Agent to date.

Adams was first charged by TICO in NOV 2019 for arranging overnight accommodations for consumers in the Niagara Region between 01MAR, 2018 and 20NOV, 2019. Adams conducted business under names including Niagara Smart Stays, Smart Stays and Executive Leasing.
