The same day that Toronto Pearson announced the launch of "YYZ Express," as Open Jaw reported, a number of other Canadian airports followed suit.

According to a media release by YEG, that airport YYC and YUL are also getting the new "Express" free, online booking tool that allows pax to pre-book a spot in the security lineup.

YVR Express was originally announced in OCT.

YYZ Express

Reserved spots are available daily for all Domestic and International departing passengers at the Terminal 1 D Gates security screening point from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the Terminal 3 B and C Gates security screening points from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

YEG Express

At launch, YEG EXPRESS is available daily during peak times for Domestic and International departures:

  • 4:30 am – 8:30 am, daily
  • 2 pm – 6 pm, daily

YEG says more hours and availability will be added. For more information about YEG Express, click here.

YUL

Edmonton's media release indicated YUL was among the 5 major Canadian airports to implement the "Express" program, but at this time, no information is available from YUL.

How "Express"  Works:

  1. Travellers can sign up in advance - as early as 72 hours prior to their flight departure, and as late as even upon arrival at the airport - to secure a spot in the pre-boarding security check lineup.
  2. However, airport authorities note that Express slos are limited and are expected to book up quickly, so they recommend booking as early as possible to secure a spot.
  3. Pax will need to input their airline, flight number, destination, name, number of fellow travellers in their party and contact information to save their spot in the queue.
  4. Upon arrival at the airport, pax go to an assigned checkpoint, show airport staff their QR code, and theoretically, jump the queue and breeze through screening.
