TICO Issues Two Immediate Suspension Orders

Closed signThe Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) has issued Immediate Suspension Orders to suspend the registrations of World Travel Inc., a travel agency based in Toronto, and Amerigo Tours and Travel Inc., a travel wholesaler in Ottawa.

Both businesses must cease all travel sales and counselling activity immediately.

TICO has also issued a Notice of Proposal to revoke the registrations of both World Travel Inc. and Amerigo Tours and Travel Inc. Both are entitled to a hearing by the Licence Appeal Tribunal about the proposal to revoke its registration.

According to TICO, it is alleged that Amerigo Tours and Travel Inc. has been operating without a Supervisor/Manager, as required by Ontario’s Travel Industry Act, 2002.

As for World Travel Inc., it is alleged that it has not been financially responsible in the way it "conducts business, including the use of consumer funds." According to TICO, there are "reasons to believe" that World Travel Inc. will not conduct business in accordance with Ontario’s Travel Industry Act, 2002.
