Germany Can’t Wait To Welcome Your Clients
With Martha Chapman

The GNTO’s Julia Dywelski

We all can’t wait to travel again. And while we wait out this sad and strange time, the officials at the German National Tourist Office at least have one beacon of hope:  Germany has been announced as the #1 destination worldwide where travellers say they will feel safe, post-pandemic.

Knowing that there is sure to be pent-up demand, Julia Dywelski, Director of Marketing at the German National Tourist Office gave a media briefing to remind us of some of the wonders that await. From medieval towns to the hipsters of Berlin, there’s always something to please clients in Germany.

This year was supposed to be a biggie in Germany as the whole country celebrated the 250th anniversary of composer (and GNTO ambassador) Ludwig van Beethoven. Wisely, officials have agreed to keep the celebrations going until September of next year so we can all enjoy the music. In the interim, check out these six free podcasts about his life!

Thinking of 2021, Germany will focus on five themes to market the country: Nature and City; Off the Beaten Path; Romantic Germany; Arts and Culture and Entertainment. No doubt at least part of that pent-up demand will be from clients wanting to visit the legendary and charming Christmas Markets which take place across the country every November and December.

In the interim, the GNTO website is full of ideas for you and your clients so they can #DiscoverGermanyFromHome, from recipes to music, sports inspiration to views of the jaw-droppingly scenic landscape.  Germany is, after all, as Julia reminded us, the “land of castles and palaces!”

Lots to look forward to in 2021!

As a travel advisor, you are already in a good position to start marketing Germany to your clients.  Even now there are 24 non-stop flights per week between Canada and Germany (on a combination of LH and AC) from YVR, YYZ and YUL.  That’s not bad lift for these days!
