At Jamaica’s “One Love Affair” Gala, 15 Canadian Agents Feel the Love

The grand finale of the Jamaica Tourist Board's (JTB) "One Love Affair" 2023 unfolded with a dazzling gala reception on December 5th at the Iberostar Grand, Rose Hall.

Among the fifty top-performing agents recognized for their outstanding achievements, 15 Canadian agents earned the prestigious honour, with 13 attending the in-person celebration. Open jaw actively participated in the diverse activities and fostered meaningful engagement with JTB staff and travel agents throughout the event.

Dan Hamilton, the District Sales Manager for Canada, effortlessly assumed the role of Master of Ceremonies, bringing his natural charisma to captivate and entertain the lively crowd. Embracing the theme of 2023, "Roots, Rock, and Reggae," the event pulsed with authentic Jamaican vibes. The stage came alive with the live performance band "Blow Wow Band," adding to an evening of music and celebration.

The top 50 agents, distinguished as certified experts through the comprehensive "Jamaica Travel Specialist" program, were invited to a luxurious three-night, all-inclusive getaway in Jamaica. District Sales Manager for Canada, Dan Hamilton, emphasized the program's rigour, including a final exam, ensuring that only qualified agents are equipped to promote Jamaica to their clients expertly.”

As a celebration highlight, agents were given the choice of two beautiful excursions. Options ranged from a delightful "Farm to Table" culinary experience in collaboration with Chukka Caribbean Adventures to a bespoke Catamaran experience via Island Routes. The latter featured a blend of dining and shopping after the catamaran.

Throughout the evening, the audience was regaled by Donovan White, Director of Jamaica Tourism Board who welcomed the “guests” home to Jamaica. He also stated, “You are our eyes and ears in what’s happening out there; you give us the temperature of emotions, preferences, likes and dislikes of clients.”

Angella Bennett, JTB’s regional director of Canada, said, “It has been a phenomenal year for Jamaica Travel from Canada. We have been able to cap 15 positions for top-producing agents, I’m honoured to stand on stage with my agent awards tonight. They have made the Canadian and Jamaica teams so proud. This year means a lot to me because it focuses on our culture. Something unique to Jamaica is our music; tonight's theme is Roots, Rock, Reggae.
