Universal Orlando Resort is set to introduce new Minion-themed attractions this summer.
The main highlight is the debut of Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast, a blaster game attraction located at the entrance of Minion Land in Universal Studios Florida. The attraction combines immersive sets, interactive game-based technology, custom animation and an original storyline to create a unique experience, Universal said in a release.
Guests will be transported to Villain-Con, a convention for villains, where they can compete to become a member of the Vicious 6, the supervillain group featured in the movie "Minions: Rise of Gru." Equipped with blasters, guests will navigate through the convention, earning points by causing mayhem and destruction.
The attraction will also offer a connected gameplay experience through The Official Universal Orlando Resort App. By syncing their blaster to the app, guests can track their scores, embark on special missions, unlock perks and earn digital collectibles.
Villain-Con Minion Blast is just one of the attractions in Minion Land which features a dining location, various eateries, shopping and entertainment inspired by the films and characters. Guests can dine at Illumination's Minion Cafe, a new Minion-run eatery offering family-friendly fare. Other food options include Bake My Day bakery, Pop-A-Nana, a kiosk serving banana-flavored popcorn and Freeze Ray Pops, offering colorful frozen treats. Visitors can also meet and interact with characters from the "Despicable Me" franchise and the movie "Sing" at the outdoor Illumination Theatre façade.
