On 05SEP, Disney Cruise Line unveiled the design of its upcoming ship, 'Disney Treasure.' Open Jaw attended a virtual reveal event that showcased a ship set to immerse travellers in the worlds of Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel, blending elements from Disney Park tales.

As the cruise line highlighted, 'Disney Treasure' will offer dining, attractions, and accommodations reminiscent of Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Pam Rawlins, executive producer of Walt Disney Imagineering in Florida, noted during the media preview, "We're taking our guests to beautiful real places, but also fantastical stories that we're bringing to life on the Disney Treasure.'"

Design & Features

As Open Jaw previously reported, "The ship's Grand Hall is inspired by the "grandeur and mystery of a gilded palace," drawing on real-world influences from Asia and Africa and paying homage to the land of Agrabah from Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Aladdin."

The signature atrium character statue, a Disney Cruise Line tradition, will be a "shimmering, splendid representation of Aladdin, Jasmine and Magic Carpet soaring together toward a whole new world of adventure."

The ship introduces a new family restaurant, Plaza de Coco, a theatrical dining experience inspired by the 2017 Disney Pixar film.

Returning favourites, including Worlds of Marvel and 1923, named for the founding year of Walt Disney Animation Studios, offer dining experiences ranging from Marvel hero encounters to a nostalgic exploration of Walt Disney's legacy

Disney Treasure's design features characters from Disney stories like "Aladdin," "Coco," and "Zootopia." The ship will feature staterooms with themes from "The Lion King," "The Jungle Book," and "Aladdin."

A Growing Fleet

Like its most recent predecessor, the 'Disney Treasure' is being constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany. The ship, powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), stands at approximately 144,000 gross tons, making it slightly larger than the 'Disney Dream' and 'Disney Fantasy.'

Accessibility

During the presentation, Disney Cruise Line shared that it has designed most areas for wheelchair accessibility and offers staterooms tailored for passengers with disabilities.

Similar to the 'Disney Wish' reveal, several venue details and experiences were reserved to be unveiled at a future date.

Inaugural Season and Bookings

Launching as a successor to the 2022 'Disney Wish,' 'Disney Treasure' embarks on its maiden seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida, on 21DEC 2024.

Bookings commence for Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club members on 12SEP 2023 and are open to all on 20SEP 2023.
