Atlas to Feature Canadian Celebrity Chef on Two Culinary Expedition Voyages in 2023

Canadian celebrity chef Massimo Capra

Atlas Ocean Voyages has announced that Canadian celebrity chef Massimo Capra will be the featured “Gastronomic Guest” aboard World Navigator on Epicurean Expeditions, departing 15AUG and 27AUG, 2023.

Chef Capra hosts the television series “Gourmet Escapes,” judges on “Chopped Canada” and is chef-host of “Restaurant Makeover,” both hits on the Food Network (USA). He is also a regular expert on “Cityline,” a long-running series on CityTV network.

“Chef Massimo is renowned throughout Canada,” said James A. Rodriguez, the line’s president and CEO. “All of us at Atlas Ocean Voyages are excited to welcome him to our roster of culinary masters this summer.”

Capra is the owner of his namesake Capra’s Kitchen in his hometown of Mississauga, Ontario, and the author of “One Pot Italian” and “3 Chefs: The Kitchen Men,” which in 2011 received the gold Canadian Culinary Book Award. In 2010, Capra licensed his name to the famous Rainbow Room in Niagara Falls and later became chef-owner of Massimo’s Italian and Boccone at Toronto Pearson International Airport. In 1997, he joined forces with Paolo Paolini of Toronto’s iconic Splendido restaurant to open Mistura. Capra was also the award-winning chef at Prego della Piazza for nine years prior to that. He emigrated to Toronto in 1982 and worked at Archers, a family-owned restaurant.

Born in Italy, Capra’s culinary training began in Salsomaggiore, Parma. He then cooked at the famous Trattoria dall’ Amelia in Mestre near Venice, spent several years at Hotel Royal in Courmayeur, Val d'Aosta; Hotel Savoy and Drei Tannen restaurant in San Martino di Castrozza; and was under contract with Gallia Hotels (Milan) at various of their resort properties.

“It is very exciting to be a part of Atlas’ new Epicurean Expeditions program,” said Capra. “I am looking forward to visiting some of my favorites coastal resorts and enjoying ‘la dolce vita’ of the Mediterranean on a luxury yacht.”

Sailing from APR through OCT 2023, Atlas’ new Epicurean Expeditions have been designed for travelers to immerse themselves in the gastronomy of European ports on culinary shore excursions and learn from guest chefs and sommeliers who will be on board to enrich the experience.
