
Industry reports tally up 19 new cruise ships set to debut in 2023, representing an investment of USD $11.34 billion and adding 37,095 cruise berths globally.
As reported by Seatrade Cruise News, the ships will sail for 18 brands, including brand-new Explora Journeys of MSC Group and Adora Cruises, a joint venture between Carnival Corp. and China State Shipbuilding Corp.
Virgin Voyages will be increasing its fleet by two ships.
And Royal Caribbean International, Oceania Cruises and Silversea Cruises will debut not only new ships, but new designs.
Royal Caribbean will be receiving Icon of the Seas, a new entry for the world's largest cruise ship at 250,800 gross tons with a maximum passenger capacity of 7,600 and 2,350 crew. The ship will be delivered this year but won't operate commercial sailings until 2024.
As noted by Cruise Industry News, 2023 sees more eco-friendly LNG-powered ships as well, including MSC Euribia from MSC Cruises, Silversea's Silver Nova, Carnival's Carnival Jubilee and Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas.
Other new additions of note include Celebrity Ascent, Seven Seas Grandeur, Norwegian Viva, Scenic Eclipse II, Emerald Sakara, and Seabourn Pursuit.
