Following in the recent footsteps of Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Windstar Cruises and Azamara have delayed their restart dates further into the summer.
Disney Cruise Line has suspended all departures through at least MAY. Anticipating international borders remaining closed for an extended period of time, Disney Magic sailings in Europe are cancelled through 10AUG.
“Our team at Disney Cruise Line remains focused on the health and well-being of our guests and team members. We are carefully preparing for a return to service following the guidelines issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),” the company said in a statement on its website.
As for Canada departures and the Canadian government’s decision to ban ships with more than 100 passengers until 28FEB, 2022, the cruise line says it is “evaluating various options for the Disney Wonder’s scheduled season in Alaska. Once a decision is made, we will reach out to Guests booked on these sailings.”

Azamara has delayed its return to service to the end of JUN.
“As the world continues to confront the many challenges resulting from COVID-19, our primary goal continues to be a healthy return to service for our guests, crew and the communities we visit. In order to ensure the most effective initiatives are in place for a healthy return to service, Azamara has taken the decision to extend the suspension of global operations for all sailings departing on or before June 30, 2021,” Azamara said in a statement.
Windstar Cruises has pushed back its planned restart date from MAY to JUN.
"With the information we have today on COVID transmission rates, travel restrictions and government regulations, many uncertainties remain,” the company said in a statement on its website, adding it will restart operations in a phased manner with initial cruises having reduced guest occupancy and modified itineraries.
Wind Spirit will be the first ship to restart on 10JUN, 2021 in Tahiti, followed by:
- Star Breeze – 19JUN, 2021 – Caribbean
- Wind Star – 19JUN, 2021 – Mediterranean
- Wind Surf – 29JUN, 2021 – Mediterranean
- Star Legend – 04JUL, 2021 – Mediterranean
- Star Pride – 14JUL, 2021 – Northern Europe/Iceland
