Lenora Perry, travel consultant with Sears Travel in Victoria

How long have you been in the business? 12 years. I used to work in the housewares department here at Sears and started in the agency helping out during a mat leave! (Note: Sounds like a good move – last year Lenora was Sears top producing agent for all of Canada.)

Do you have a specialty? I do about 30% cruise and the rest packages, plus a couple of groups.

How do you keep up on industry affairs? I read Open Jaw every day!  As well as every industry magazine and newsletter I can get my hands on.

Any time management strategies? I make a list as I go through the day of stuff I have to do the next day.

Do you have a magic sentence to close the sale? 'Would you like to put that on your Sears account?' (I ask that before they get out of the chair!)

What do you do to keep you clients loyal? I never let them forget me, I remember their birthdays and send emails constantly to keep them up to date.   I pay great attention to detail and spell out everything for them.

If you had to spend six months in a destination, which one would it be? Italy – for the wine and the food!

If you weren't doing this, what would you be doing? Probably working as a Customs Officer.

Where's your next vacation? To Toronto - to see my Grandma!

What's the best piece of advice you ever received?  'The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.'
