Montréal’s Air Transat has partnered with StratosX to help the airline minimize flight disruptions amid a chaotic time for air travel.
Air Transat has become the launch airline client for StratosX, a Montreal-based startup whose AI-driven X360 platform is designed to help carriers recover faster and more consistently when flights go sideways, the companies announced in a joint statement released Thursday.
"In irregular operations, speed and clarity matter," said Marc-Philippe Lumpé, chief operating officer at Air Transat. "X360 strengthens how we recover, giving our teams the visibility to act with greater confidence and consistency, while protecting the experience for our customers."
X360 is a decision-support system built specifically for irregular operations, or IROPS — the delays, cancellations, and schedule disruptions that hit airlines' operations control centres on a near-daily basis.
Air Transat is integrating the platform into its operations centre with the goal of speeding up recovery, giving teams across shifts a shared view of the situation, and making decisions more consistent when disruptions hit.
When a disruption unfolds, operations teams have to work out aircraft availability, crew legality, and passenger impact all at once, then pick the best path back to a normal schedule — usually against the clock. stratosX says X360 is built to speed up that process rather than replace the judgment calls made by ops teams.
The AI platform is designed to pull operational data into a single, shared view; flag network pressure and high-risk situations before they turn into a full-blown IROP; weigh recovery options against passenger impact, time, and cost; and track outcomes through KPIs so airlines can refine their playbooks over time.
stratosX, founded by a team that includes veterans of Southwest Airlines' operations and analytics functions along with alumni of McKinsey and QuantumBlack, has been building toward exactly this kind of live deployment. Air Transat now becomes its first named airline customer to put the platform into daily operational use.
