Air Canada Offers Reroutes as Storms, FAA Restrictions Snarl US Travel

Air Canada Plane

Air Canada is offering free rerouting options and advising travellers of potential disruptions as major storms and air‑traffic‑control restrictions across the United States continue to affect flights.

The carrier’s daily travel outlook notes that severe weather and operational limits in several regions are prompting schedule changes, rebooking support, and alternate routing for affected customers, including at BOS, EWR, LGA, PHL, DCA, and IAD.

On Wednesday, the US had more than 820 delays and about 50 cancellations as thunderstorms and flow‑control measures slowed departures and arrivals at several major airports.

The hardest‑hit hubs were in the Northeast and Midwest, where crews were forced to stagger takeoffs and landings as storms moved through.

As of publication time, FlightAware data shows 510 cancellations and 1,047 delays across multiple US airports today, with more expected.

Travel advisors should prepare clients for extended connection times and rerouting.
