US Storm Wreaks Havoc: Flights Grounded and Lights Out

A severe Arctic storm has swept across the eastern United States, unleashing chaos in its wake.

Airlines are struggling to cope with the impact, with major carriers like United, Delta, JetBlue, and Southwest reporting nearly 300 flight cancellations and a staggering 3,000 delays. Key airports, including Boston Logan, New York’s JFK, and Washington D.C.’s Reagan National, are bearing the brunt of the disruptions, leaving many travelers stranded and frustrated.

In cities such as New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C., residents are facing severe power outages as temperatures plunge to dangerous lows. The National Weather Service has issued travel advisories, urging everyone to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Ice and snow have transformed highways into treacherous paths, with visibility severely reduced.

Public transportation services are also feeling the storm’s effects, with bus and subway systems facing extensive delays and cancellations. Rail services have come to a halt as snow and ice blanket the tracks, particularly in the Great Lakes region, where lake-effect snow is causing significant disruptions.

As temperatures continue to drop, weather experts warn that conditions are set to become "dangerously cold.”

With the holiday season just around the corner, the frustration among travellers continues to mount as they navigate the challenges posed by this formidable Arctic storm.
