Canada Jetlines Receives Approval to Begin Ticket Sales

Canada Jetlines is growing closer to full operations after announcing that the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) is allowing the carrier to sell tickets before receiving its license. According to Jetlines, this milestone is the result of the CTA issuing an exemption from the application of section 59 of the Canada Transportation Act.

Prior to granting this exemption, the CTA considered whether Jetlines is taking "all the necessary steps" to meet all the license issuance requirements and whether the carrier has demonstrated a "high probability of obtaining the required license" before beginning operations.

This exemption follows the CTA's approval that Jetlines has met the Agency’s financial requirements, which the carrier received on 25MAY. The CTA previously determined that Jetlines met the Canadian Control requirements on 17MAR. Jetlines' formal commercial license will be issued after the airline receives its Air Operator Certificate from Transport Canada.

“This exemption is a testament to all the great work Canada Jetlines has done towards obtaining its license in time for starting operation in the summer of 2022. We intend to go public with our schedule and start selling flights in the coming weeks,” said Eddy Doyle CEO Canada Jetlines. “We are looking forward to our first flights and the opportunity to offer Canadians a new and exciting air service option.”

Canada Jetlines air service is still subject to the CTA’s approval, and all prospective passengers will be informed, before a reservation is made or a ticket is issued, that the air service is subject to approval.
