The Globus family of brands announced Tuesday that all guests will require proof of a COVID-19 vaccine, a negative test or virus immunity in order to travel one of its tours, river cruises or independent vacation packages in North America and abroad.

The new policy is to take effect in APR across its entire brand portfolio: Globus, Cosmos and Monograms and Avalon Waterways and appears to be a Canadian first.

“We are excited to continue to move forward with our plans to get back on the road to travel, safely,” Stéphanie Bishop, managing director of the Globus family of brands, told Open Jaw.

“Requiring a combination of vaccine verifications, proof of negative COVID-19 tests or immunity is an important piece of the puzzle and the Globus family of brands is happy to be leading the way.”

On 01FEB, the company announced in a statement posted to its website that it has paused international operations through 30APR. However, it is still offering limited tours in the U.S.

Globus Canada’s only tour since the pandemic began took place with 19 guests last OCT in Banff.

Under Globus' updated Health & Safety Protocols, guests will need to show printed or digital proof of a COVID-19 vaccination obtained at least 14 days prior to travel, proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of travel, or proof of recovery from a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis within three months of travel.

“The health and safety of our travellers is our No. 1 priority,” said Bishop. “In addition to unveiling new pre-trip requirements today, we have continued to enhance on-trip safety standards throughout the pandemic to ensure we’re ready to welcome guests back to travel when the world is ready.”

Travellers will now be required to offer Globus family of brands’ personnel one of the following printed and/or digital verifications upon arrival:

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination at least 14 days prior to travel
  • Proof of a negative COVID-19 test (NAAT/PCR or antigen) result within 72-hours of travel
  • Proof of recovery from a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis within three months of travel

In addition to unveiling new COVID-19 requirements at the start of each departure, the Globus family of brands announced that they will facilitate – and cover – additional COVID-19 testing, if required, for guests to return to their home country, as well as tests on trip if guests show symptoms.
