In Pictures: The Best Cruise Ship Towel Animals

It’s the little things that tend to touch travellers when it comes to customer service. That’s part of the reason why travellers love those crazy ‘towel animals’ created by resort room housekeepers and cruise cabin stewards.

According to CruiseCritic.com, towel animals are a long-standing tradition on cruise ships.  A very popular tradition too, apparently, because when CruiseCritic asked readers to send in photos of towel creations they’ve found in their cabins, the response was quick and substantial.

The well-travelled folks at OpenJaw.com and TakeOffeh.com figured we’d seen a few towel animals in our time, but we were amazed at the diverse artistic creations that can be made using a couple of towels and assorted bits and pieces of cruise passenger belongings.

Who knew that cruisers sometimes return to their cabins to find a manta ray holding the TV remote, an angry spider eating pillow chocolates or a monkey reading on the toilet?
