By blending ancient Mayan heritage with modern-day amenities, Bahia Principe Grand Tulum offers a blend of history and contemporary comforts.
The resort is located within the Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Resort, just 60 minutes from the Cancun International Airport, 30 minutes from Playa del Carmen and 20 minutes from Tulum’s majestic Mayan ruins. Upon arrival, guests are transported on a unique journey that allows them to delve into the enchanting world of the Mayan civilization while enjoying the amenities and conveniences of the present day.
The resort’s commitment to preserving and celebrating this ancient culture is evident in every aspect of the guest experience. From educational workshops, where they can learn about ancient Mayan traditions, to guided tours that unravel the mysteries of the region’s natural wonders, the resort offers a number of activities that ensure guests leave with a newfound connection to the Mayan heritage.
Mayan-Inspired Decor

As guests step foot into the resort, the first thing that will capture their attention is the Mayan-inspired decor adorning every corner.
The architectural design pays homage to the ancient civilization, with intricately carved stone facades, symbolic murals, and vibrant colours reminiscent of the Mayan palette. From the lobby to the spacious guest rooms, every space exudes an aura of mysticism, creating an immersive atmosphere that transports guests back in time.

“The way the lobby is set up and the villas throughout the property, it really has this Mayan look and the Mayan feel to it,” says Henry Perez, Director of Sales & Business Development, USA & Canada, at Bahía Príncipe Hotels & Resorts.
“It’s not just a facade,” he added. “You are immersed in it. You feel it.”
Captivating Shows

Guests can also prepare to be enchanted by the mesmerizing shows that take place within the resort. Bahia Principe Grand Tulum showcases the talents of local performers who bring the Mayan culture to life through vibrant dance routines, traditional music, and theatrical storytelling.
The resort is known for its show, “Origin,” which has been sold out since its premiere in late 2020. The show is based on embracing our roots, which is at the core of Mexican culture. Made up of three acts, Origin depicts tradition transmitted over generations by more than 60 indigenous peoples.
In 2022, the resort introduced its newest production, Black Bird, inspired by the legendary band, The Beatles.
“It’s themed around the Beatles, it’s really, really neat,” says Perez.
Close to the Mayan Ruins
One of the more remarkable aspects of Bahia Principe Grand Tulum is its proximity to the Mayan ruins. Step outside the resort, and guests find themselves just a stone’s throw away from some of the most significant archaeological sites in Mexico.
On any given day, guests can explore the legendary ruins of Tulum, perched on a cliff overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, feeling the ancient energy move through them as they marvel at the intricate stone structures that have stood the test of time.
“We are right by Tulum, and the buzz it has gotten has helped us immensely over the past few years,” said Perez. “Here, you are in the heart of the Maya, and you feel it.”

While immersing themselves in the magic of Mayan culture, Bahia Principe Grand Tulum also ensures that guests will lack nothing during their stay.
