Travel advisors were transported to the charming French countryside of Provence and stylish coastline of Cote d’Azur in Atout France latest webinar, hosted on 29MAR. The event showcased the various land and sea activities that can be enjoyed in the region, from wine tasting to sailing.

The webinar was led by Ophélie Tollari, Promotions and Events Manager, Marseille Provence Cruise Club; Anne Marie Blum, Manager, Var Provence Cruise Club; and Michel Chevillon, President, French Riviera Cruise Club who provided first-hand knowledge on the activities — both marine and on land — that can be enjoyed in the south of France.

Provence and the Cote d’Azur is the most popular cruise destination in France, with six river ports, five major homeports, and two international airports, Ophélie Tollari, Promotions and Events Manager, Marseille Provence Cruise Club, told advisors. In 2019, the region welcomed over 2.8 million visitors.

Cruise lines that visit the destination include MSC Cruises, Costa Cruises, Ponant, Club Med and Crystal Cruises, as well as yacht companies Sea Cloud Cruises, SeaDream Yacht Club and The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. River cruise lines include Uniworld, Viking, AmaWaterways, Emerald, CroisiEurope, Tauck and Grand Circle Travel.

Tollari says the region offers an activity for everyone to enjoy, from four national parks and nine regional parks for nature lovers, to over 500 ecotourism certified activities. Historians can contemplate national monuments, visit museums and UNESCO heritage sites like the Popes Palace in Avignon, and let loose at festivals, such as the Jazz Festival in Toulon. For foodies, there’s a myriad of local markets and regional dishes to try, while adventurers can go horseback riding, golfing, or sailing. The region’s small size allows for travellers to enjoy many activities in a short span of time, Tollari said.

In summer 2021, Provence and the Cote d’Azur will welcome three flights per week on Air Transat and four flights a week on Air Canada on the Nice-Montreal route. On the Marseille-Montreal route, Air Transat will offer four to six flights a week and Air Canada will fly up to three times per week.
