Disney Unveils 50th Anniversary Celebration Details

Walt Disney World

With its 50-year anniversary approaching, Walt Disney World has planned an 18-month celebratory event to commemorate the milestone. Called “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” the festivities will feature new experiences at the resort’s four theme parks and special décor throughout.

The Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park will receive a royal makeover with new gold bunting, sparkling golden embellishments and other enhancements, including a 50th anniversary crest. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, a warm light will emanate from the Tree of Life and at EPCOT, new lights will shine across the reflective panels of Spaceship Earth. The iconic structure’s permanent new lighting will continue beyond “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” as a defining feature of the park.

As hosts of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will be dressed in sparkling new looks, custom-made for the anniversary.

Walt Disney World Resort officially opened to guests on 01OCT, 1971.

More details about “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” will be announced in the future.
